October 21, 2006: Talking Injuries with Nick Brunelli

On this week’s show we discuss the occurence of injuries in swimming and talk to Pan American Games team member Nick Brunelli about his personal experience. Despite the fact that swimming is supposed to be a non-impact sport, there have been a rash of injuries occuring to international stars such as Grant Hackett, Ian Thorpe, Pieter van den Hoogenband and even Michael Phelps. Nick Brunelli tells us of his battle back from injury, his quest to continue to be successful in the sport, how injuries are just sometimes unavoidable, and how injuries can show us an athlete’s true character in their pursuit to return to the top.
